Prepare for Winter
Posted on 22 November 2017
With November in full swing, winter will be here in the blink of an eye, and in terms of attire and pretty much everything else, welcoming it requires some careful planning. In order to avoid overwhelming your wardrobe, it’s best to keep things simple and effective and the same goes for the winter looks. With all the layering involved, you often run the risk of unintentionally creating outfits that can seem a tad too busy and, so the best course of action is to go minimal. It doesn’t only save you time, but it also saves you from styling mistakes and you will achieve the impeccable chic every single time.
Bright and early
The first thing to do after that first morning cup of coffee is prepping your skin while figuring out your outfit for the day. In the spirit of minimalism, embrace the minimalist skincare which consists of only three products – a cleanser, serum and moisturizer. Opt for a creamy cleanser for the harsher weather as your skin will need all the nourishment it can get, and Tammy Fender Cleansing Milk is just the perfect choice. When it comes to serums, you can take your pick according to your skin type, and top things off with a moisturizer with an SPF. Makeup should also follow the rules of minimalism – berry and burgundy shades with nothing but a touch of foundation and a few coats of mascara will make for quite an impact. Finally, in the spirit of staying fresh and nourished inside and out, don’t forget your daily dose of vitamins, and our recommendation is the Solgar UK Advanced Antioxidant Formula complex as it contains all the necessary vitamins and minerals to keep the body strong and the face radiant.
From bottom to top
Let’s kick things off with some quality bottoms. In this area, it’s best to keep things nice and neutral so you have some wiggle room with the tops. Therefore, make sure you own at least one pair of great-fitting dark-wash jeans with a straight leg. Next in line are black trousers – a total must, and this relaxed, minimal design is simply to die for. As red is the colour of the season, don’t forget to add a little colour with a red pair as well. This high-rise wide-leg is the epitome of relaxed chic that you simply must have among your winter staples.
Layering is one way to go, but what some other ways? Warm and cosy sweaters are a winter dream, and the best part, when wearing these, you don’t really need much else. It is therefore vital to stock up on all those lovely neutral shades such as cream, black and green. Yellow will be on point this season, and with a long white button-down and a piece of minimal jewellery, you will be good to go within minutes. Stripes still rule above all else, so don’t forget to add a striped sweater to your gorgeous collection.
No winter outfit is complete without a few amazing outerwear pieces. If you are feeling bold, a long red coat will be right up your alley. However, conspicuous outerwear can get tired fast, so unless you’re planning to snag at least one more coat, you should definitely consider purchasing something in a more neutral shade. However, if you have a thing for coats and think one is never enough, feel free to grab the red but also have a grey or camel one in your wardrobe as well. Large, plaid scarves will make for a gorgeous addition to complete the look, along with classic leather gloves.
Making a statement
When your wardrobe is minimal, you have plenty of room to play in the footwear and bag department. Buckled boots and block heels are back in style, and here to elevate every look, and that’s always a smart way to go. Finally, when considering your next bag investment, keep in mind that solid and firm bags are in style this (and every other season), and when considering colours and textures, feel free to experiment and play with different ones. After all, this is your most poignant accessory, so never shy away from making a statement.
